Protoceratops (name meaning "First-Horned Face") is a genus of ceratopsian dinosaur that originated during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now Asia. Roughly the size of a sheep, it is a more primitive relation of the larger and more famous Triceratops.
Thought to have been extinct for 65 million years, there are still some that remain alive on Primeval Island. In fact, they are among the most common ceratopsian there, alongside Styracosaurus, Sinoceratops, Achelousaurus, Torosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Nasutoceratops, and Triceratops.
