Mortemus was an evil Smilodon that lived on Primeval Island. He tried to gobble up Mia and Rayne before being killed by Regnodente. Before that, he terrorized the creatures of Primeval Island, including the herds of Steppe Bison, Megaloceros, Hagerman Horses, Camelops, European Gazelle, Aurochs, Macrauchenia, and even some small and medium dinosaurs. He was notorious for killing Spike's Mother, and almost killing Spike. Mortemus also killed Evolane, the female Cro-Magnon who also lived on the island the rest of her tribe. He attacked his younger brother Sabor when he was younger. When Sabor grew up, he was still friendly towards most of the creatures of the island, only eating dead animals. While Mortemus kills the creatures for power. Several of the island's Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons tried to hunt him down but got killed.
