Megantereon is a machairodont felid from early Pliocene to middle Pleistocene North America, Eurasia, and Africa. It may have been the ancestor of the later Smilodon.
Thought to have been extinct for 500,000 years, there are still some that remain alive on Primeval Island. In fact, they are one of the island's apex predators. They are also one of the most common cats on the Island, alongside the Cave Lion, Smilodon, American Lion, Dinofelis, American Cheetah, and Ngandong Tiger.

- The sound effects of Megantereon are that of bobcat, cougar, jaguar, leopard, and panther sound effects.
- Megantereon hunted Australopithecus more often than it's relative Dinofelis.
