Livyatan (name meaning "Leviathan") is a genus of cetacean that originated during the Middle Miocene epoch in what is now South America. Named after biblical sea monster Leviathan as well as the author of the famous novel Moby Dick, Livyatan was the largest prehistoric whale of all time.
Thought to have been extinct for 8 million years, there are still some that remain alive in the waters off Primeval Island.
