Hyaenodon (name meaning "Hyena Tooth") is a genus of Hyaenodontidae that originated during the Late Eocene epoch in what is now North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Fast and vicious canine-like mammals as large as a rhinoceros and a stag, these carnivores were not at all related to Hyenas, despite the name. Among the apex predators of their time, they hunted and killed in packs.
Thought to have been extinct for 15 million years, there are still some that remain alive on Primeval Island.
