The Asian Elephant is a species of elephant in the genus Elephas, of which it is the sole surviving member. They are herbivores and live in groups. Males have larger tusks, while females have tushes, very small tusks that barely extend beyond the mouth, or none at all. They have smaller ears than African elephants and live in subtropical and tropical forests and savannas. They have been tamed throughout India and Southeast Asia, being used as draft animals, as pets, and in warfare.
